 The Freedom Series

March 2020

Acrylic on stretched canvas

48 x 72 inches

This series was designed during the March 2020 quarantine

when all daily activities moved to an isolated environment.

Through this experience, I felt a deep loss of physical human

connection and a threat to personal social freedoms.

These paintings represent the expression of speech as a muddled

and convoluted restriction.

Widespread interruption of life gave rise to reliance on technology

as our only means of communication. Feelings of entrapment and

helplessness proved to test our mental and emotional resilience.

I explore the analog and digital values of linguistics in both historical

and contemporary timelines.

The lines of language and communication ebb and flow

against the advances of technology and the limitations

of our personal freedoms and circumstance.

We the People… our voice is lost to the memory of human touch.

May we find a more perfect Union.
